A Journey Through Time

I'm Kirsti Ringhög, a photographer from Helsinki.
I started photography as a hobby in the late 1990s.

There were times when my analog camera collected dust at the back of a cabinet, but on more active days, it allowed me to capture countless beautiful moments. I would eagerly wait after dropping off my 36-exposure film roll, anxious to see how many good shots I had managed to get.

Today, photography has become much easier. You can immediately preview your shot on the camera's screen and edit it later in Photoshop.

In 2014, I launched my Facebook page, Photos By Kirsti. Initially, I felt a bit uncertain about sharing my photos online, but over time, my perspective shifted. Now, I'm excited by the opportunity each photo offers to share the beauty I've captured with others. It's a true honor to inspire people, just as other photographers have inspired me with their amazing work.

Photography has become an integral part of who I am. It's no longer just a hobby - it's a lens through which I experience and view the world.

Each moment of shooting offers an excellent opportunity to save meaningful moments and capture lasting memories.

Through photography, I have noticed how the world around me has changed and I see everywhere interesting objects worth photographing. In the past, I would rush from A to B without noticing the little details around me. But now, thanks to photography, I find myself pausing, stepping back, and appreciating the subtle moments I used to overlook. Whether it's the reflection in a puddle, a tiny spider spinning its web, or the sky painted with golden rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds.

There's a saying, 'Seeing the world through children's eyes.' In my case, I would replace 'children's' with 'the eyes of a photographer.' Photography has heightened my awareness and sensitivity, allowing me to truly observe the world around me.

Nature

I spend a great deal of time in nature, drawing strength from its tranquility, vibrant colors, and rich scents. I always leave with a sense of gratitude, respecting the dignity and significance of the places I photograph. At home, as I edit my photos, I get to relive those moments and once again savor the beauty nature has shared with me.

Animals

I truly enjoy photographing animals, whether it's my own dog or wildlife in the forest. When I photograph animals, I always operate on their terms, respecting their space and peace. I never disturb them, but instead approach quietly and respectfully, aiming to capture authentic, natural moments.

Photos aren't just taken - they are given

Portrait Photography

For me, the feeling of success stems from capturing the unique emotion and atmosphere of the moment. Hearing feedback like, "It's wonderful to experience the atmosphere again through these pictures", truly motivates me to continue. In portrait photography, I cherish getting to know the stories of my subjects, sharing a collaborative creative process, and weaving together a shared magic through our images.
